Law Abiding Citizen

I'm sure you'll all be very happy to know that today I actually took a trip to the cinema to see something OTHER than New Moon. I know - sad days all round. But, what can I say, New Moon was making me far too upset that such awesomeness doesn't really exist. Well not in my world....yet..? Here's hoping. Anyway, after tutorials we headed to see the long-awaited Law Abiding Citizen featuring The Butler himself, and I have to say I thought it was fantastic.
Generally I think the story is so clever and it had me sitting on the edge of my seat the whole way through, even if the ending was slightly predictable. I think The Butler gave a fantastic performance and I loved his witty indolence throughout. I must admit - the movie had me tearing up within the first minute, literally, and it was really quite disturbing. I think it really made you relate to wee Butler straight off, and thus you were on his side from the word go.
It was interesting to read that Gerard Butler had originally signed up to play Nick Rice, the prosecutor played by Jamie Foxx, and vice versa. However, Gerard thought it would be fun to switch roles and Jamie Foxx was intreigued as he would love to see The Butler "beating people and blowing stuff up". Who wouldn't? Hubba hubba.
The story was clever in the way that you generally thought he was getting help from all these little minions outside of prison, when it was him the whole time. Awesome. SPOILER ALERT. I was sad to see him get blown up in the end, but i knew it was going to happen. We all did. Where would poor Clyde be now he has no one left to blow up? However, I thought he would be the one to blow himself up, and I enjoyed the scene at the end where he was surrounded by fire, staring at the bracelet his wee girl made him - It almost felt like a peaceful ending to the story.
I CANT BELIEVE that the premiere was in Cineworld - where was I?!? Oh well, I'll just need to meet him some other way. I'm super jell-o, i had no clue it was going to be there or I'd have totally been there awaiting my prince.
One thing puzzling me - what was with the nude scene? Apart to delight us female (and male) fans, was there any real significance? Does there have to be? No, i suppose not. I just wasn't sure if this was some meaningful act, or if it was just generally to give all the fans a cheeky glimpse.
Overall, this was a great movie in my opinion, one of the best I've seen in a long time (apart from New Moon, but you already knew that). I suggest you all hop off and see it, or you shall live in regret. I mean it. X

Reflection, reflection

So, due to my rubbish reflection skills (and our on going assessment) here is a wonderful reflection on life so far at the RSAMD. First of all I really can't believe we're almost at the end of term already, yet it feels like home already, aww. It'll soon be time to dig out Elf, THE best christmas movie ever. Anyway - lets get down to business shall we. I'm so happy in this course, I feel like its perfect for me. Last year doing art, I hated it. Every day was god-awful, and I'd constantly boak at the sign of a sketch pad. Its an amazing feeling to be doing something that I feel I adore and I'm only 18, some people never find their wee niche! I am so excited for every single day and dread nothing; I love classes, they are all so great, and Monday mornings are actually....FUN.
Being interested in writing and ideas, I lurrrve Scriptwriting classes. They are so exciting and everyday is different, I'm coming up with all these ideas I never thought that I remotely had and Richard has a great way of getting them out! Tomorrow we're doing a mini Post Secret activity, where we have to put two of our deepest darkest secrets down (dun dun DUN)...I'm nervous already! However think these activities bring us closer together as a group and we realize that we're all in this together, its cute. I can't wait until we start developing ideas, its all very exciting.
Going on our little field trip last week was really interesting, and I loved hearing about all of the grooosseee stories, yuck. That's what makes the course so exciting, that its not the same boring old 9-5, its fun and everyday is unique. Oh god - i sound like a total cheese-bomb preacher. Moving swiftly on.....
I feel really comfortable with everything we have done so far, but I'm slightly worried that I completely suck at doing Proposal's. They are boring and not really (as Adam would say) 'Sexy' enough. This really annoys me!!! I really want to be a writer, I think, and I feel sooo defeated when I stare blankly at the page. But, FEAR NOT, I will get better soon. Just you wait, come second year ill be a wordsmith or something cool like that.
Another worry is the fact that all of my idea's for three-five minute films are like a million times too big - I physically cannot come up with a GOOD idea for a film that short. I do try, but then other ideas come to me and I'm like, YEAAAH! Then suddenly I realize I'm looking at a feature and not a short. So this really needs to be addressed, I need to really condense my ideas in to idealistic lengths or I'm going down the pan. I think I'll watch a tonne of shorts so I properly understand what kind of scale we're talking about, but I'll really need to get some recommendations because the last short i researched on my own was about some creepy girl who's teeth killed anyone. I'm sure Richard would be very pleased at idea's along these lines.
On the plus side - I am really enjoying how much old TV shows really influence today's stuff. Even films, I had never wanted to watch Charlie Chaplin before for numerous reasons, and I found that I actually really like them. For some reason I had this idea that people from 'back then' in the past were running around like vikings, not laughing or having remotely the same sense of humor that us highly advanced beings have today. But, I was so pleased to see that Charlie Chaplin could crack me up without even saying anything. As I was saying in class, his facial expressions are high-larious. The way he conveys emotion and humor through just an eye-brow or a hand is beyond me, and I understand now why he was so well received 'back then' and even still today.
I'm glad we watched Chaplin before we watched his actual films, (and not just because of Robert Downey Jr...I promise...) because it gave us a sense of who he was and what his life was like. I had no idea what a little womanizer he was! Cheeeeky!
So I'm enjoying being educated in the classics because I know my taste can be a little hmm how do i put this...girlie? Chick flicky? AMAZING? Hahaaaa, but seriously, I'm open to all types of films and I'll give anything a watch with eager expectations.
In general, I LOVE THIS COURSE. That's all I need to say really, and also a little pat on the back to meeee as the big scary cameras don't seem so big and scary anymore. Until next time, ciao for naow. X

Blade Runner

The Wizard Of Oz, The Godfather, The Shawshank Redemption, Citizen Kane and Blade Runner.
So many movies, so little words. 250 to be exact. Blade Runner it is.
I have such a mixed review on this movie, did I like it? Didn't I? Your guess is as good as mine. Yet, I'm not about to rush off and watch it EVER again, so I'm thinking its in the negative. To be honest I think its a bit dark and boyish for me, but i can appreciate that its a good movie and extremely well done considering it was made back when dinosaurs roamed the land. I think the cinematography compliments the mood of the movie fantastically and understand why it is a lead example of the neo-noir genre.
It's interesting to see that it is supposed to be set in 2019, because i highly doubt that's what the world is going to be like in a mere ten years, but the graphics and imagination are mind blowing for the times. I also enjoyed how it left you questioning the humanity and moral outlook of Harrison Fords character Rick Deckard, I had no idea he was going to be one of the replicants, but it makes so much sense and was a cheeky wee twist. Also, Mary Sean Young gave a brilliant performance as Rachael, a replicant who truly believed she was human, later finding her 'memories' belonged to someone else.
Overall, I appreciate that this movie is well done and deserves its place in history, but i won't be rushing to amazon anytime soon. (And I'm going over 250, oops.)

HI RED.

Its been an eventful few days, and with all our lovely time off (thanks guys) i've managed to become a big fat fan of many new serieseseseses. Picture this. Me. The TV. NINE hours. Feast on that guys.
It all started on thursday when Adam treated us to an episode of Life On Mars. I'd never watched this before, and didn't plan to. Ever. But much to my surprise, it was totally not what i thought it was. For some reason yours truly thought it was going to be hippies coming at me at all angles. Just general awful-ness. So I was pretty pleased when i found out that i actually really enjoyed it, and couldn't wait to see more.
SO, off i toddled to my awaiting virgin box, and found that the TV on demand only had season 2, but I managed to pick it up pretty easily. Four hours later, my mum came home to see me all pale and whithered, eyes glued to the telly. When she merely suggested I stop watching for a while, well, if looks could kill. But, i decided maybe she was right so took a break. A break of Life On Mars.
I then, minions, proceeded to surf through the other programmes on offer and came across Fringe. I LOVE IT. I had never even heard of it before, and I think it should really be advertised a bit better because now me and my wee mom are hooked on it, and I'm pretty sure my friends would like it too if they had known about it! I guess it just proves how much of a big part the advertising plays in promoting a TV series, especially a completely foreign one. ANYWAY. I love it, the insane scientist is hysterical! Honestly...Me and my mum watched FOUR hours of it on friday, and then another tonight.
Well. Scriptwriting tomorrow at last. I hate how its on Mondays, because we always miss it and i adore it! So im pretty excited, i can't believe i actually look forward to classes and everything, its amazing and i truly feel SO lucky that i love everything so much, and never ever dread it. AWW. Over and out xoxo

wear the crown. be the crown. YOU ARE THE CROWN.

Feeling slightly like a terrible film student due to my lack of FILM, i decided Sunday night would be the best time to settle down and watch some sweet TV/Films. I started off with the X-Factor of course, excited to see that the theme was 'Movie week' and for once i was quite pleased with the results. Fair enough, Lucie may have had a good voice but she was SUCH a bore. Honestly, she was like a face-cloth. She murdered Demi Lovatos 'This Is Me' in my opinion and made a weak attempt at trying to be younger than 60. It didn't work. I loved Oli as always, and Joe's cute version of The Lion King brought back all the old mem's. Awww. However, ever since i seen The Lion King on Broadway in New York, i always seem to forget it's even a film. It was such a fantastic show and really does Walt Disney justice.
MOVING ON. After the X Factor, i was soo pleased to see that Miss Congeniality was on. I hadn't seen that film in forEVER, and the trailer had me cracking up every time - Sandra Bullock really is such a hilarious actress and I seem to forget about her a lot. Miss Congeniality literally had me hooting my socks off from the first five minutes, as wee Sandra plays such a convincing role as FBI's tom boy Gracie Hart, soon to be 'Gracie Lou Freebush.'
Even the name cracks me up, as its such a stereotypical bimbo American persona. Gracie goes undercover in a "Scholarship programme" aka Beauty pageant in order to uncover a terrorist and is subjected to complete sexist activities such as 'The Bikini Contest.'
The funniest part i think is that these things actually EXIST! Don't get me wrong I'm not some crazed feminist or anything, but its slightly pathetic that some girls need a crown awarded by a punch of cynical perverts in order to prove that they are beautiful. Take even Miss Scotland for example, you go on the website, and these girls are posting pictures of them in their underwear just so people will vote for them, and personally i would be embarrassed to have a 'someone like that' represent Scotland. It's awful!
Also - how hilarious i find it when they ramble on about 'WE WANT....UMMMM...LIKE...WORLD PEACE? Or something...' God, give it a rest ladies. It just makes them look insanely needy and desperate, why not say what you really want which is a rich husband and a convertible car. JEEZ-OH.
But yeah, I've gone slightly off track here....but overall Miss Congeniality is just a lighthearted comedy full of LOL moments and I would highly recommend it to anyone in need of a good hoot.

Sooo, camera formative assessments tomorrow, EEEK. I'm slightly nervous about it because knowing me it'll be the only day i trash all the equipment and break a few toes, no pressure or that. Most of my notes don't even make sense which doesn't help, i should really get better at shorthand. I'm not THAT worried about it because i know its just to make sure we don't have any major issues or anything, and even if i do then it'll be good to get them sorted out. I should probably go de-crypte my notes again, then patiently await tonight's FLASHFORWARD, aww yeahh! X

48 hours of sweet TV

Evening. Its been an eventful week so far, yay me for passing my driving test and getting a sweeeet car, i love you. I started my 48 hours of recording what i watch on Sunday, and I guess I'm not surprised with what i watched. Because it was a Sunday, i HAD to watch TV, its an unwritten rule. I done a lot of DVD luvin' in the morning and kicked off my square eyes around six-ish, when i caught up on X factor on demand. Then, i naturally had to watch the results at eight. I was so nervous to see who would go this week, and REALLY hoped it would be jedward or afro. I think their names speak for themselves really - utter rubbish. They sound like a cats choir together...heaven forbid they form a band. At least people know jedward suck - i can't stand these afro fans. Sorry - if he had a greasy mop you would all be running a mile. Like me. SO, i had my fingers and toes crossed that one of them would go out, but was i right? NO. Poor Rachel done the walk of shame this week, and what a shame that was. She was raw talent! I do understand that somehow the public weren't connecting with her, i feel the same, but then again the public didn't connect with Alexandra last year and look where she is now! I felt so gutted, gutted like a fish, when i saw that jedward went through. Then afro. Come on X Factor! Don't do this to me. Anyway. After that painful show, i headed to my lair to watch some cheeky gossip girl box set, season 2 to be precise. It was lovely, as i knew it would. I've seen it all therefore I'm never disappointed, but you all know how i feel so I wont ramble on about it.
Sadly troops, that was all I watched on Sunday, which leads us nicely on to Monday. After my driving test, i came home with Desperate Housewives new episodes calling my name! I watched them online, cheekyyy! Andy won't be impressed. But I can't help it - I'm much too impatient to wait! I mean, i could be waiting lightyears for it to hit E4. I love it, i love it, i love it. I forgot how good it got, especially after it took its 5 year jump in to the future. And yay - Gabbi's not fat anymore. Her children still are - but I'm willing to let that slip. Now, moving on to Susan marrying Mike, whaaat! I knew it. Poor Katherine, but she is a complete psycho these days, she has always annoyed me, Susan is nice. Sometimes when she does stupid things like break in to Katherines home, i think, WHO WOULD DO THAT? No one. But still, Its Desperate Housewives, it gets away with it. OVERALL - i am a DH addict. Till i die. (Maybe.)
Then. I watched this uber trashy show called The Millionaire Matchmaker on diva TV, but it was actully quite funny. Its this woman who set up a 'club'/agency where she tries to find these really rich guys/girls a husband. Hilarious! I just thought the woman's attitude was hilarious, she wasn't scared to say what she thought especially when it came to one woman who wanted to join the agency said she was 32, (clearly not) and the main woman was like, 'SWEETIE, you've been 32 for 10 years.' The cougars face was a picture! So yes, sometimes trash can be amusing. After this, i watched Without A Trace but i may aswel not even comment on it because i was much too busy online to remotely pay attention, it was just background noise. I didn't like the theme/characters this week as it was based on army guys or something, whatever.
And then. It came. 9pm - you will find me in front of channel 5 without a doubt. FLASHFORWARD! Aww yeah. I'm loving this programme right now, its the best ever. Every week it gets better and better, and leaves me in complete suspense for so long! I even tried to find it online to cheat, but sadly America's no further along than us. BOO.
This takes us to tonight, and right now I'm watching Gossip Girl. Again. Although this time, its not my choice - its my mums. Its on ITV2, and I've already watched it. But its a cool episode, love Tyra Banks cameo! But seriously, i HATE jenny humphry. A lot. She thinks shes so cool now shes rich - whatever, she doesn't get away with it the our Blair. Is it just me or has Nate AND Chuck simultaneously got hotter?! I think so. Hubba Hubba.
After this, I'll probably watch Criminal Minds because i'm soo in to it right now!
I'm feeling so disloyal to poor Cineworld because I haven't been to see a movie in too long. I must go and see one soon! My pass will be growing cobwebs soon. Anyway, I need to go and google car insurance now - lucky me i know. Lots of love.
